Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a mechanical watch be serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend a full service every four to six years. If your watch runs fast or slow by more than fifteen seconds a day, or the crown feels stiff, bring it in sooner. Regular servicing keeps the lubricants fresh and prevents wear on the gear train.

Can you restore a vintage watch without losing its character?

Yes. We focus on mechanical integrity first, replacing only worn parts like mainsprings, gaskets, and jewels. Dials and hands are cleaned rather than refinished whenever possible, so the original patina and printing stay intact. You get a reliable movement with the history preserved.

Do you offer authenticity verification for pre-owned pieces?

We do. Our verification covers case stamps, movement markings, dial printing, and serial numbers against reference databases. You receive a written report with photographs of the key identifying features. This service is available for both vintage and modern models.

What does water resistance testing involve?

We use dry pressure testing to check the case seal at the rated depth. The watch is placed in a chamber, pressurized, and monitored for air leakage. If it fails, we replace the gaskets and re-test. This is recommended before any extended exposure to water.

How long does a typical movement service take?

A standard service takes two to three weeks. The movement is fully disassembled, cleaned ultrasonically, inspected, and reassembled with fresh lubricants. Complicated pieces like chronographs or perpetual calendars may take longer depending on parts availability.

Which strap materials do you stock for replacement?

We carry leather, suede, rubber, and steel bracelets in common lug widths from 16mm to 22mm. For vintage pieces, we can source period-correct straps with aged buckles. Bring your watch in or send the lug width and we will help you match the right fit.
